Meet Dr. Brie Arevalo, PsyD
Founder & Owner of The Landing Place, PLLC
ABOUT ME:
Hey there! I’m Dr. Brie, the founder and owner of The Landing Place, PLLC. I am so glad you are here!
As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 12 years of experience specializing in caregiver-child communication and relationships, and as a parent myself, I have come to understand that people are a blend of complexity, uniqueness, beauty, and a little bit of hot mess. I also know that healing happens in community, not in isolation. My passion and expertise involve diving into the trenches with each family, uncovering hidden strengths during those challenging seasons - and doing so by having fun!
My specialities include teaming up with individuals and families, providing practical coping skills for navigating neurodiversity, ADHD, anxiety, mood, peer relationships, and behavioral challenges. I also provide expert and compassionate care for individuals processing grief and loss, childhood trauma, and learning about their identity as an adoptee. I also offer faith-integration upon request.
What stands out in our work together is my commitment to a systems approach. So, parents, I am looking out for you, too! This means that parents, I want to ensure that YOU are cared for and equipped with tools alongside your child and teen. YOU are the expert of your child and in order to see lasting change within your child’s life and family, our work often includes family therapy and parent-child therapy. It’s all about making sure YOUR needs are met before we can meet your child’s needs. Then, we bring the whole crew together to practice what we’ve learned and tailor each skill to fit your family.

Education, Training Background, & Treatment Modalities
EDUCATIONAL & TRAINING BACKGROUND:

Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with a Speciality in Child & Adolescent Psychology (Wheaton College)
M.A. in Clinical Psychology (Wheaton College)
B.A. in Psychology (Winona State University)
B.A. in Communication Studies (Winona State University)
At Winona State University, I earned a dual bachelors in Psychology and Communication Studies. Then, because I have love for learning and passion for advocacy (and apparently, I’m glutton for punishment), I took the plunge into graduate school; I earned both my masters and doctoral degree (M.A. and Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Child & Adolescent Psychology from Wheaton College.

I have been fortunate to train in almost every mental health care setting spanning from in-home, residential, PHP, IOP, inpatient, outpatient, school, non-for-profit, and private practice settings. Each experience has been a lesson in connection, play, and intervention. Every individual and family I've worked with has been a guiding light, fueling my passion to bring expertise, advocacy, and clinical services to kids, teens, young adults, and families. That's what led to the launch of The Landing Place, PLLC—a safe space for every individual to land and take flight.
TREATMENT MODALITIES USED:
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Play Therapy, Relational Psychodynamic, Attachment Regulation and Competency Framework (ARC), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI)
FUN TIDBITS ABOUT ME:
Outside of being a psychologist, I am a wife, mama, avid kitchen dancer, coffee drinker, and maker of mediocre smoothies. I find joy in taking walks, creating art out of random items found within my home, and being with my community of people. I’m a sucker for a good horribly-timed joke and am all about good food (and as a Chicago native, my expectations are high). My zeal and zest for life, coupled with my authentic and warm approach, is all about fostering comfort, safety, and light within our therapeutic journey together. Can’t wait to connect with you!
